Easter day blasts: Sri Lanka revises the death toll from the blasts

The Sri Lankan authorities have considerably reduced the number it has given to indicate the death toll from the Easter Day blasts, from 359 to 253.

As per a reversed report, only 253 people have been killed so far in the blasts that jolted the Island country in South Asia.

Earlier, it was reported that as many as 359 people were killed in the Easter Day blasts, which happened at least 8 different locations in and around the country’s capital Colombo.

As per a preliminary report, the blasts were the retaliation to the attacks carried out in a mosque in New Zealand.

Most of the attacks happened in the Easter Day were targeted against the churches located in the country.

A local Islamist militant group, the National Thowheed Jamath, is said to have played a central role in the attack.

The investigation is underway. More details are awaited.
