Customs were shocked when they checked the bag of the couple who arrived at the Delhi airport; 45 guns were seized
Couple caught with 45 guns from Delhi Indira Gandhi International Airport. 45 firearms worth Rs 22.5 lakh were found in two trolley bags belonging to an Indian couple who had arrived from Vietnam. The couple admitted to smuggling guns in the past. Customs officials said that whether the firearms are genuine or not will be confirmed only after receiving the ballistics report. But it is reported that guns can be used only after making changes.
A 41-year-old man and his 32-year-old wife arrived at the Delhi airport on Monday from Vietnam. The couple had a six-month-old daughter with them. They were stopped by customs officials when they crossed the green channel of the airport’s arrival hall. He had two trolley bags handed over to him by his elder brother who had arrived from Paris at the same time as the couple. After giving the bags, the brother drowned. When the suspicious officers checked, they found 45 types of brand guns.
Earlier, officials said, the duo confessed to smuggling 25 firearms worth Rs 12.5 lakh from Turkey. The bags were seized under the Customs Act and the couple arrested. Their daughter was handed over to her grandmother. Officials said that further investigation is going on in the incident.
