Congress, BJP play caste politics over Mani Shankar’s deplorable remark

Both the Congress Party and Bharatiya Janata Party, which are trying to ensure their victory in the upcoming Gujarat Assembly Election, are tactically using the deplorable remark made by a senior Congress leader, Mani Shankar Aiyar, in a way which help them to turn certain caste group’s votes in their favour, with the latter calling it a remake born in an aristocratic mindset and the former questioning the latter for failing to react in a caste sensitive manner in several similar situations appreciating and highlighting the manner in which the former’s leaders reacted immediately after the news regarding the statement has been publicised.

A statement, made by the Mani Shankar Aiyar against the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, while reaching to PM’s statement in which the PM accused the Grand Old Party of systematically undermining Ambedkar’s legasy, in which the speaker of the statement called the respected PM ‘a low life’, has been the triggering point of the political game.

In the beginning, blocking the flood of anger channelised against the Congress Party, Congress scion Rahul Gandhi has denounced the statement and sought an apology from the senior leader.

Meanwhile, showing no intention to leave the issue, the BJP’s chief campaigner in Gujarat, the PM, has claimed that the statement exposes the aristocratic mindset the congress has.

Making another attempt to heal the wound, the congress has gone a step further to suspend the senior leader.

Now, the party’s online workers is campaigning aggressively on the issue highlighting the fact that the BJP and its leaders have never shown courage to take action against those in their party who regularly make provocative statements against the lower caste people and minority sections.
