Cairn Oil & Gas Cuts Output by 10% Amid Middle East Shipping Disruptions
Cairn Oil & Gas, India’s largest private oil and gas producer, has reduced its production by 10%, bringing output down from 110,000 barrels per day. The decline is primarily attributed to shipping and logistics disruptions triggered by the ongoing crisis in the Middle East, the company’s founder Anil Agarwal said on Wednesday. The supply chain challenges have impacted the transportation of crude, leading to the temporary cut in production levels.
Despite the setback, Agarwal expressed confidence that the company will not need to implement further reductions. Cairn Oil & Gas, a part of Vedanta Limited, continues to maintain operational stability and is closely monitoring the evolving geopolitical situation. The company remains focused on mitigating disruptions while ensuring steady output under the current constraints.
Looking ahead, Cairn has outlined ambitious growth plans, aiming to increase its production capacity by 500,000 barrels per day over the next five years. Agarwal emphasized the importance of India strengthening its domestic energy capabilities, noting that increased investment in local resources is essential to reduce reliance on external energy supplies and enhance long-term energy security.
