Hero Motors Shares Rebound After Subdued IPO Debut
Hero Motors shares rose 6.5% on Wednesday after an initially weak stock market debut, with the shares recovering from an opening price of ₹82 on the NSE to ₹89.11 by 10:15 a.m. IST. At that level, the Indian auto-parts maker was valued at around ₹40.06 billion ($418.95 million).
The company raised ₹10 billion through its IPO, including a ₹6 billion fresh share issue and a ₹4 billion offer for sale by existing shareholders. The IPO was subscribed 6.66 times overall, with strong demand from non-institutional and retail investors. Hero Motors had set its IPO price band at ₹79–₹84 per share and had sought a valuation of about ₹38.15 billion at the upper end.
Hero Motors, which supplies components to customers including BMW and Ducati, plans to use the IPO proceeds to reduce debt and purchase equipment for expanding its manufacturing facility in Uttar Pradesh. The company’s market debut comes as India’s IPO market gains momentum in the second half of 2026 following earlier volatility linked to geopolitical tensions.
