BJP’s Tejasvi Surya Slammed Over IndiGo “Emergency Exit Mistake” Reports

At the Chennai airport last month, an IndiGo passenger unintentionally unlocked the emergency escape. Despite his apology, the airline apparently did nothing. The flight was delayed because the plane only took off for Tiruchirapalli after undergoing rigorous engineering checks.

According to reports, the passenger was BJP leader Tejasvi Surya. As a result, the opposition has attacked the Karnataka MP and questioned why such a serious occurrence was covered up with a simple apology. Tejasvi Surya has been contacted by NDTV over the reports, which the BJP MP and his office have not yet acknowledged.

“The passenger immediately apologised for the action. As per SOP (Standard Operating Procedure), the incident was logged and the aircraft underwent mandatory engineering checks, which led to a delay in the flight’s departure,” said the airline, not revealing the name of the flyer.

According to a statement released by IndiGo yesterday, a passenger on flight 6E 7339 from Chennai to Tiruchirapalli on December 10 unintentionally unlocked the emergency exit while being boarded when the aircraft was on the tarmac. According to reports, the passenger unlocked the escape by “resting his hand on the door.” As per reports, the flight was delayed for more than two hours.

According to a senior representative of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, the event was properly reported and safety was not jeopardised. He said that the passenger had accidentally unlocked the “Right Hand emergency escape.”

Tejasvi Surya and K Annamalai, the leader of the Tamil Nadu BJP, were both aboard the flight, according to sources at the Chennai airport. Senthil Balaji, a minister for Tamil Nadu, raised the issue last month. Mr. Annamalai has likewise been silent.

In a series of posts, opposition parties attacked the Bengaluru South MP and asked to know why IndiGo was withholding the passenger’s name.
