Another honor killing in Tamil Nadu; The newlyweds were hacked to death by the girl’s father
A couple who fell in love and got married in Tamil Nadu was hacked to death by the girl’s father. The deceased were Reshma and Manikaraju, natives of Thoothukudi. Muthukutty, the accused who went on the run after the double murder, was caught by the police in the evening.
The incident took place near Kovilpatti in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu. Here the youths named Reshma and Manikaraj of Veerapatti village were killed. R.C. Reshma, a native of Street, is a second-year graduate student in a college in Kovilpatti. Manikaraj and Reshma, who live in the area, got married a few days ago.

The local panchayat intervened and tried to solve the problem amicably, but Muthukutty did not end the feud and came home this evening and killed her daughter and husband. Both were alone at home when Muthukutty attacked with a sickle.
The bodies were shifted to Tuticorin Government Hospital for post-mortem. Muthukutty, who had gone on the run, was arrested by the Thoothukudi Ettayapuram police around 8 pm. He will be produced in court tomorrow.
