Devdas, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and based on the same-named novel by Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay, celebrated its 20th anniversary on Tuesday. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, one of the movie’s leading ladies, shared a poster of the film on the occasion.
In Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s landmark film, Aishwarya played Paro and Shah Rukh Khan Devdas. The two star-crossed lovers split up, and Devdas turns to booze for comfort. He begins working as a prostitute and meets Chandramukhi (Madhuri Dixit), who later develops feelings for him. Jackie Shroff, Kirron Kher, Manoj Joshi, and numerous other actors also appeared in the movie. Abhishek Bachchan, her husband and fellow actor, responded as soon as Aishwarya shared the lovely movie poster. In the comments area, he included a heart emoji. Aishwarya’s followers experienced nostalgia and reminisced about how much they adored her in the movie.
One of them wrote, “You were beyond belief♥️🧿 #Bigfan.” Another added, “Wow 20 years. 😱 It feels like it was just released! My all time favourite movie! Such a timeless piece!” A fan also added, “Ur acting was beyond amazing mam.”
In 2002, Devdas was released in theatres. It was the most costly Hindi movie ever produced at the time of its release. Devdas was a massive undertaking, coming in at over Rs 50 crore in expense. It also garnered great success at the box office in India and on the international scene.
