India Eyes Formula One Return in 2028
The Indian government is working to bring Formula One racing back to the Buddh International Circuit near New Delhi by 2028. A task force has been proposed to address the tax, regulatory, and infrastructure challenges that led to the Indian Grand Prix being discontinued after its last race in 2013.
Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya recently met with key stakeholders, including representatives from the Adani Group and India’s motorsports federation, to discuss the revival plans. The task force will include tax officials and policymakers to simplify regulations and support the return of international motorsport events to the country.
Formula One CEO Stefano Domenicali has expressed strong interest in returning to India but said several issues, including finding the right promoters and partnerships, must be resolved first. If successful, the revival would mark Formula One’s return to India after more than a decade.
