IT Stocks Lift Indian Markets After Wipro’s AI Push
Indian stock markets edged higher on Friday as gains in IT shares helped offset investor caution over ongoing Middle East tensions. The Nifty 50 rose 0.13% while the Sensex added 0.24%, supported by optimism around artificial intelligence and easing concerns over global oil supply disruptions.
IT stocks led the rally after Wipro expanded its AI partnership with ServiceNow to develop agentic AI workflows. Shares of Wipro climbed 2.2%, while peers including Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services and HCLTech gained strongly, pushing the IT index up 2.7%.
Meanwhile, investors remained cautious as oil prices stayed elevated despite reports of progress in U.S.-Iran ceasefire discussions. Among individual stocks, pharma firm Supriya Lifesciences and jewellery maker PC Jeweller surged after strong quarterly results, while Bharat Dynamics and Bata India declined following weaker earnings updates.
