2 States actor Shiv Kumar Subramaniam passes away: Shocked celebs say ‘gutted to hear this news’

Shiv Kumar Subramaniam, an actor and screenwriter, has died. Sanya Malhotra’s onscreen grandfather was played by the talented actor in Meenakshi Sundareshwar. Actress Ayesha Raza Mishra posted a message on her Facebook page on Monday, saying, “Rest in peace, Shiv.” Aur kya kahen kya kahen kya kahen kya (What more can I say). My friend, be pain-free and rest.”

Subramaniam’s funeral and cremation will take place at Mumbai’s Mokshdham Hindu Shamshanbhoom on Monday morning. “Gutted to hear this news,” filmmaker Beena Sarwar tweeted. It was especially tragic because it occurred just two months after his and Divya’s only child, Jahaan, died of a brain tumour two weeks before his 16th birthday.”

The full note read, “In loving memory of Shiv Subrahmanyam. With profound and heartfelt grief, we wish to inform you of the passing of one of the most dignified and noble souls to inhabit human form – our dearest Shiv Subrahmanyam. Incredibly talented, he was much loved and revered personally as well as professionally. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his wife Divya, her mum, dad, Rohan, Rinki and family; Bhanu chitti and all of Shiv’s family; and his huge legion of friends and fans. Kindly note – The funeral will leave from Shishira, Yamuna Nagar, Lokhandwala Back road, Andheri West at 10am, 11.04.2022. The cremation will be at slam at Mokshdham Hindu Shamshanbhoomi, Ceasar Rd, Amboli, Andheri West, Mumbai, Maharashtra 400058.”

Hansal Mehta, Anurag Kashyap, Ashoke Pandit, Sandhya Mridul, Bharti Singh, Maanvi Gagroo, and other B-town celebrities expressed their sorrow over Shiv Kumar Subramaniam’s death.

In 1989, Shiv Kumar Subramaniam began his film career by writing the screenplay for Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s Parinda. Other notable films for which he is responsible include 1942: A Love Story, Is Raat Ki Subah Nahin, Arjun Pandit, Chameli, Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, and Teen Patti. For Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi and Parinda, Subramaniam won Filmfare awards for Best Story and Best Screenplay, respectively. Subramaniam went on to play supporting roles in films later on. He appeared in films such as 2 States, Rocky Handsome, Hichki, Happy Journey, Risk, Prahaar, Ungli, Bangistan, Kaminey, Stanley Ka Dabba, and others.
