Ram Nath Kovind elected as India’s next President

Ram Nath Kovind, contesting as NDA nominee has been elected as the next President of India. He would be the 14th president taking over the chair from the present President Pranab Mukherjee. He won by a win percentage of 65.35% with around 7,02,044 votes in his favour over the oppositions Meira Kumar who only got 3,67,314 votes.

Prior to this, he served as the Governor of Bihar for a brief period of 2 years starting from 2015. Advocate by profession, he has always been the voice for the backward classes of the society. He took the lead role during his days as an advocate to ensure free legal aid to the under privileged class of the society.

He has also served as Rajya Sabha member form the state of Uttar Pradesh and has initiated the spread of eduction into rural India.
