Haiti: a Caribbean heaven

The Spanish forces and several other western forces invaded the land and mercilessly looted its resources. They suppressed the indigenous people and treated them as slaves. They further brought several people from Africa and made them slave workers. These slaves worked in the colonial establishments operated in the country and helped the western powers to earn great fortunes from Haiti.

Eventually, in the midst of the French revolution, the dreaded Haitian revolution broke out. It slowly crushed external powers and abolished slave system.

Haiti is the first independent nation of Latin America and Caribbean. It is created on 1 January 1804.haa

History reads: “the sacrifice and confidence of a slave military officer, Toussaint Louverture, had turned a suppressed society of slaves into an independent nation.”

Even though the country had faced some political issues and natural disasters in the recent past, now it is one of the most powerful countries of Latin America. It is a member of the Latin Union, the Organization of American States and the Caribbean States and several other unions.

Those who are interested in visiting this country must closely monitor the political, health, and social situations thoroughly before making a plan. Recently, the United States, in a tourist warning report, announced that Haiti is not a safe place for the pregnant travellers because the Zika threat still exists in this Latin American nation.
