Vaccine Prepared In India For Lumpy Skin Disease in Cattle, Says PM Modi

Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that the federal government and the states are working to combat Lumpy Skin Disease in cattle. Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) in cattle is a problem for many states, and it has become a problem for the dairy industry.
In his speech to the International Dairy Federation World Dairy Summit (IDF WDS) 2022, which is taking place at the India Expo Centre & Mart here, Prime Minister Modi stated that “our experts have also prepared an indigenous vaccine for Lumpy Skin Disease.”

According to him, the disease has recently caused livestock losses in numerous Indian states.

LSD is a contagious viral disease that affects cattle and causes fever, nodules on the skin and can also lead to death. The disease gets spread by mosquitoes, flies, lice, and wasps by direct contact among the cattle, and through contaminated food and water.

Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, and Parshottam Rupala, the minister of fisheries, animal husbandry, and dairying, both attended the opening ceremony.

Sanjeev Balyan, a minister of state for agriculture, animal husbandry, and dairying, was also present.
