US secretary of state to visit India
In order to boost the relationship between India and the US, the US secretary of state, Mike Pompeo, is set to visit Delhi soon.
The US is very concerned about the growing power of China in the Indo-Pacific region. It seeks to develop a strong defence tie-up with India to counter the growing strength of the Communist Country in the region.
In the proposed visit, the secretary is expected to discuss the topic of security along several other topics with the Indian representatives.
The proposed visit is the part of a serious of visits the US top leaders is planning to make as part of the US administration’s reversed Indo-Pacific policy.
The US secretary of state will also visit Sri Lanka, Japan and South Korea in the proposed Asian trip.
The US is worried about the way the Asian countries like Sri Lanka is influenced by the growing Asian power with its money power.
Like India, the US is also sceptical about the Belt and Road Initiative of China, who, China says, is an attempt to re-build the Silk Road and increase the connectivity in the region.
As a part of the BRI, China has pumped large amount of money in the infrastructural sector of certain Asian countries.
