UP Man Pretended To Be Muslim, Justified Shraddha Walkar Murder, Arrested

The live-in boyfriend of Shraddha Walkar, 27, who was brutally killed and her body cut into 35 pieces, Aaftab Amin Poolawala, was assisted by a man who appeared to be a Muslim and was detained today by the Uttar Pradesh police.

A resident of Sikandrabad in the Bulandshahr area named Vikas Kumar posed as Rashid Khan when he spoke to a reporter in Delhi about the hotly debated murder case. He defended Aaftab’s conduct by arguing that such things occur when someone is angry, and that the number of pieces might have been 36 as well as 35. When questioned if he could also do it, he responded that such actions are common among individuals who are angry and are not a big deal.

“Vikas has a criminal record, with cases registered against him in Bulandshahr and Noida relating to theft and carrying illegal arms,” Bulandshahr Senior Superintendent of Police Shlok Kumar said.

After his arrest, he said he didn’t know it would blow up so much else he wouldn’t have done it. “I fear I will be killed, either here or in prison,” he said, when asked if he regrets his actions.

Aaftab Poonawala strangled Shraddha Walkar to death four days after they relocated to Delhi in May after getting into a fight over expenses and adultery. He allegedly cut the body into 35 parts, put them in the refrigerator, and then disposed of them over the course of 18 days.

On Tuesday, Aaftab had the first session of the polygraph test, also referred to as the lie detector test. As the police continue their investigation and attempt to determine a motive, he will now be put through a narco-analysis test.
