“Unable To Compete, So…”: Nora Fatehi Sues Jacqueline Fernandez
Actress Nora Fatehi of Bollywood has launched a lawsuit against Jacqueline Fernandez and 15 media outlets for allegedly making defamatory comments. She charged that the media outlets had “carried forward and circulated” Ms. Fernandez’s comments. Ms. Fatehi went on to say that the media outlets and the actor she claimed to be her competition “were acting in connivance with each other.””A conspiracy by the accused No. 1 (Jacqueline Fernandez) to ensure the financial, social, and personal downfall of the complainant was hatched, and enacted by the said action,” she has said in the petition filed through her lawyer.
“Her rapidly progressing career quite obviously has threatened her rivals who are unable to compete with her on a fair footing,” the petition says.
“It has started to become evident that the aforementioned rivals being unable to compete with the complainant fairly in the industry have started to try and tarnish her reputation which would cause her loss of work and hence would open up greener pastures for her rivals in the industry,” it adds.
The remark in question is related to the central agencies’ ongoing investigation into the 200 crore extortion case, in which con artist Sukesh Chandrashekhar is the key defendant. Since it was discovered that Ms. Fernandez received pricey gifts from the con artist, she has been designated as an accused in the case and both actors have been called to testify. Sukesh has also given Ms. Fatehi gifts.
She had denied getting any presents from Sukesh on December 2 when she left the Enforcement Directorate office following the recording of her statement.
Jacqueline Fernandez had previously argued before the Appellate Authority of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, or PMLA, that it is surprising that some other celebrities, most notably Norah Fatehi, were also defrauded by Sukesh Chandrashekhar in the case. In its supplemental chargesheet submitted to a Delhi court in the extortion case brought against con artist Sukesh, the ED included Jacqueline Fernandez as an accused.
Her name was not listed as an accused in the earlier chargesheet from the ED, but it did include information about the statement that Nora Fatehi and Jacqueline Fernandez made in relation to the case.
The ED claims that on October 20, 2021, Sukesh was questioned by Ms. Fernandez, who admitted that he had frequently scheduled her hotel stays and private jet travels.
According to Nora Fatehi’s statements, which were recorded on September 13 and October 14, 2021, she said that she had been hired for a charity event and that Sukesh’s wife Leena Paulose had given her an iPhone and a Gucci bag as gifts.
