UIDAI Launches New Aadhaar App With Offline Verification and Mobile Update Features
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has officially rolled out a new Aadhaar app designed with a “mobile-first” approach to make identity services more accessible and user-friendly. Available on both Android and iOS platforms, the app allows users to manage Aadhaar-related services directly from their smartphones, reducing reliance on physical documents and in-person visits.
One of the key features of the new app is the ability to update the Aadhaar-linked mobile number online through a dedicated section on the home screen. Users can also store and manage Aadhaar details of up to five family members within the app. Another major addition is offline Aadhaar verification, which lets users verify their identity without sharing their Aadhaar number, using a “Selective Share” option to disclose only chosen details such as name, photo, date of birth, or address.
The app also generates a QR code linked to Aadhaar details, enabling quick verification at authorised terminals, banks, hotels, and government offices without the need for photocopies or a physical card. First introduced in a limited form in November 2025, the full-featured version of the Aadhaar app is now live, aiming to provide a secure and seamless digital identity experience for everyday use.
