Trump, Modi Keep Close Contact as U.S.-India Trade Talks Gain Momentum
The White House has confirmed that U.S. President Donald Trump and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi remain in frequent communication as trade negotiations between the two nations move forward. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt highlighted that Trump maintains a “very positive” view of the U.S.-India partnership and holds great respect for Modi.
Leavitt revealed that the two leaders recently spoke during Diwali celebrations at the White House, an event attended by senior Indian-American officials. The call reaffirmed their continued diplomatic coordination and showcased the administration’s emphasis on strengthening bilateral ties.
While the White House withheld specifics on the ongoing trade discussions, Leavitt stated that Trump’s trade team is engaged in “very serious” talks with India. She also noted confidence in the U.S. diplomatic presence in New Delhi, praising Ambassador Sergio Gore’s role in advancing the relationship.
