Nvidia Backs India’s Deep-Tech Push as Alliance Secures $850 Million
Nvidia has joined the India Deep Tech Alliance as a founding member and strategic advisor, strengthening efforts to accelerate the country’s emerging high-tech sectors. The group, launched in September with a $1 billion initial pledge, now includes new backers such as Qualcomm Ventures, Activate AI, InfoEdge Ventures, Chirate Ventures, and Kalaari Capital. Nvidia will offer technical expertise, training and policy guidance to support Indian start-ups adopting advanced AI and computing tools.
The alliance has now secured over $850 million in fresh capital commitments aimed at deep-tech ventures in areas like semiconductors, robotics, space technology and artificial intelligence. Despite India’s growing start-up ecosystem, founders often face challenges in raising funds for research-driven companies with longer development cycles and delayed profitability, making this initiative critical to bridging a long-standing financing gap.
The announcement comes soon after India unveiled a $12 billion programme to boost innovation and R&D, as the country seeks technological self-reliance. Deep-tech funding in India jumped 78% to $1.6 billion last year, though still only a fraction of overall start-up funding. Investors say growing government support and collaborations like this make it an ideal moment for India to scale core technologies vital for economic and strategic growth.
