Cockroach Janta Party Leaders to Meet Minister Amid Massive Delhi Protest
Thousands of supporters of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) gathered in New Delhi on Monday despite a police ban, demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over repeated examination paper leaks. The protest, held on the opening day of Parliament’s monsoon session, comes as two CJP leaders agreed to meet Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda for talks with the government.
Security was tightened across the capital, with police barricading roads and restricting access to central Delhi as more than 10,000 protesters assembled near Jantar Mantar. Demonstrators accused the government of failing to curb corruption in the education system, while reports of clashes, alleged tear gas use, and heavy traffic disruptions marked the day, though police denied using excessive force.
The movement has gained nationwide attention after medical entrance exam paper leaks affected millions of students earlier this year. Activist Sonam Wangchuk, who has been on an indefinite hunger strike, offered to end his fast if the government accepted key demands, including accountability for exam leaks. Analysts say the growing movement reflects rising frustration among India’s youth over education-related corruption and unemployment.
