Top Cop’s Signature Forged To Run Security Agency In Maharashtra

An official reported on Tuesday that a man had been detained for allegedly fabricating a false licence to run a security service and faking the signature of Thane Police Commissioner Jai Jeet Singh. As a result of a tip, a police squad raided Shivam Lalsaheb Pandey’s security firm on Sunday in the Azadnagar neighbourhood, according to inspector S S Nimbalkar.

He presented the raiding crew with a permit and a licence. The phoney certificate stated the date as February 27, 2022, valid through February 26, 2027. The official claimed that when questioned by the police, the suspect admitted to fabricating the certificate.

The accused further admitted to the police that he had altered a copy of a certificate or permit by adding his and his agency’s names to it after obtaining it from an online platform. The Thane police commissioner’s signature and other information were also falsified, according to the official. He claimed that the accused thereafter emailed the falsified copy of the certificate or permission to a friend who had it printed.

According to the official, the police seized a laptop, a phone, and other tools used in the fraud. Under pertinent parts of the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act, a case was filed against the defendant.
