Tokyo Paralympics start tomorrow; Matches are conducted without spectators

Tokyo is back again, 160 countries, 4,400 athletes. The Paralympic Games will be until September 5 to keep up with the excitement of the Olympics. The Paralympics began in the 1960s with the goal of equating athletes with the Olympics.

The first edition was modified by 400 players from 23 countries. Badminton and Taekwondo make their debut at the Tokyo Paralympics this year with 22 events. The two-member Afghanistan team withdrew due to political reasons. Six players representing refugees. India is fielding 54 players, including Malayalee shooter Siddharth Babu.

India’s largest team in Paralympic history. Mariappan Thankavelu, gold medalist in the Rio Paralympic High Jump, will fly the Indian flag. India has won 12 medals from 11 Paralympics. The Indian team hopes to win 15 medals this time, including five golds. China has been leading the medal hunt since 2004. In the second and third places, the United States and the United Kingdom alternate.
