The central government has cut crores of rupees in cooking gas subsidy in one year

The central government has cut billions of rupees in cooking gas subsidy in the country in one year. Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Rameshwar Theli gave this in a written reply to the question of AA Rahim MP in the Parliament.

In 2019-20, Rs 24172 crore subsidy was reduced to just Rs 242 crore in 2021-22. The amount of subsidy through direct benefit transfer has come down from Rs 22,726 crore in 2019-20 to just Rs 242 crore in 2021-22. The subsidy through Pradhan Mantri Ujjwal Yojana was Rs 1446 crore in 2019-20. In 2020-21, it was just Rs 76 crore. The Center also clarified in its reply that no rupee has been given to the project in 2021-22.
