The Body of Medical Student Killed in Ukraine Is Expected to Arrive in Bengaluru on Sunday
Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said today that the body of Naveen Shekharappa, a medical student killed in Ukraine, will arrive in Bengaluru on Sunday. Shekarappa Gyanagouda has demanded that his son’s body be transported to India for final rites.
The 21-year-old Indian was from the Haveri district of Karnataka. He was a student at Kharkiv National Medical University who was killed in Russian shelling in Ukraine’s Kharkiv on March 1. He was reportedly standing in line to buy food when he was killed. According to eyewitnesses, the Russians blew up a nearby government building.
Russia has announced that it will look into the death of an Indian medical student. Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla has stated that the circumstances surrounding his death are unclear.
