Tejashwi Yadav Finds Patna Hospital Head Preparing To Sleep During Check

When Tejashwi Yadav, the Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, paid an unexpected visit to the hospital last night, the top official was caught getting ready to sleep in the Superintendent’s office at the Patna Medical College Hospital. The bed was prepared and had a mosquito net.

In preparation for a meeting with senior health officials, Mr. Yadav stopped by PMCH yesterday night to personally assess the state of the city’s public hospitals. Images showed stray animals running loose in the hospital as well as an unclaimed body lying in the hallway rather than being taken to the mortuary.

He went to the Superintendent’s office after pointing out various anomalies. The guard was astonished to see Mr. Yadav when he opened the door amid questions about whether the Superintendent had been asleep.

Mr. Yadav expressed his discontent with the situation in the hospital, particularly the condition of the facility’s cleanliness and other elements. Patients and their visitors voiced their grievances as soon as he entered the wards, ranging from the lack of medicines to the filthy restrooms.

Mr. Yadav saw the hospital’s filth and medical waste, saying, “One cannot even stand here.”

Patients claimed that even the women used the pay-and-use restrooms outside the hospital and that the facilities were filthy. The patients informed the minister that they had to get their prescription medications outside of the hospital because they were not sold there.

Mr. Yadav observed that senior physicians weren’t available at night. He also wanted to know what nurses were doing when they were doing the health manager’s tasks. The minister did promise that the government will “mend” the problems still present in the hospitals.
