Tata Motors Secures Orders for 3,400 Electric Commercial Vehicles Across India
Tata Motors has received orders for more than 3,400 electric commercial vehicles (eCVs) spanning both freight and passenger transportation segments. The orders include around 2,000 small commercial vehicles and pick-ups, nearly 900 electric trucks, and close to 500 electric buses. These vehicles are expected to be deployed across industries such as e-commerce, logistics, FMCG distribution, mining, cement, steel, and public transport.
According to the company, the scale and diversity of these orders reflect growing confidence among businesses in electric mobility solutions. Tata Motors noted that the commercial EV market is gradually moving beyond pilot programs and entering a phase of large-scale operational adoption, with customers increasingly integrating electric vehicles into their core transportation networks.
The automaker has significantly expanded its electric commercial vehicle portfolio over the past year, offering products ranging from the Ace EV and Intra EV to the Ultra EV truck range and Prima EV heavy-duty vehicles. Tata Motors also highlighted that over 3,800 of its electric buses are currently operating in various cities, covering more than 550 million kilometres, while over 17,000 electric small commercial vehicles are already on Indian roads.
