Sudha Kongara’s Soorarai Pottru enters to Oscars; Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Original Score Categories
Soorarai Pottru, directed by Sudha Kongara Prasad starring Suriya and Aparna Balamurali, has entered the Oscar race under multiple categories. Rajsekar Pandian, one of the producers of the 2D Entertainment, took to Twitter to convey the news to the fans with screenshots of the mail from the Academy Awards committee. Due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, Soorarai Pottru team opted a direct OTT release on Amazon Prime Video.
It’s a joyful moment for the makers of Soorarai Pottru as the film has entereded the Oscars under the categories – Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director, Best Original Score and a few other categories. This is indeed a huge achievement for the team.

Helmed by Sudha Kongara Prasad, Soorarai Pottru goes through the life of Air Deccan founder GR Gopinath and the aviation industry. The film released directly on Amazon Prime Video on November 12, 2020, and received unanimous praise from the critics and audience alike.
