Star wars in Bollywood again; Akshay and Aamir films to release on the same day
Bollywood is in no position to continue its old glory as South Indian films are making money at the global box office. Box office hits, including superstar films, continue to be a recurring theme. The latest examples are Akshay Kumar’s Samrat Prithviraj and Kangana Ranaut’s Dhakadu. Now, after a hiatus, two superstar films are coming to theaters on the same day. The films are Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha and Akshay Kumar’s Raksha Bandhan.
Both the films will hit theaters on August 11. Both the films had earlier announced their release dates. Those in the film industry had hoped this would change. However, the release date of Rakshabandhan has not been changed. Aamir’s Laal Singh Chadha is a movie that has been postponed for several days due to its Covid background. It is very unlikely that the film will be postponed once again. Meanwhile, discussions are progressing on social media that both the films will arrive on the same day. While one section says it is negative for both the films, there are those who argue that it is ultimately good for the Bollywood industry.
Lal Singh Chadha is a remake of the 1994 Hollywood film Forrest Gump starring Tom Hanks. Screenplay by Atul Kulkarni. Directed by Advait Chandan. The film also stars Kareena Kapoor, Mona Singh and Naga Chinatya in other important roles. Meanwhile, ‘Rakshabandhan’ is directed by Anand L Roy, who has directed films including Tanu Weds Manu and Zero.
