Sasikala’s nephew, TTV Dinakaran, to contest from RK nagar
In a move which is seen by many as an attempt to strengthen the position of the, so called, Mannargudi mafia, in the AIADMK party and Tamil Nadu politics, the Sasikala’s nephew, TTV Dinakaran, has been named by the party as the candidate for the RK nagar by-election. Just hours before Sasikala, the late TN Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa’s close-aid who took the helm of the Tamil Nadu government as well as the biggest party after the unexpected demise of her boss, was jailed as she failed to get a favourable verdict, like the one she got from the Karnataka High Court, from the Supreme Court over the disproportionate asset case on which her deceased boss is also a convict, she tactically appointed her political heir, the son of her sister, Dinakaran, to the key position of the party as the Deputy General Secretary.
The announcement regarding the candidateship has been made by the Presidium chairman, K A Sengottaiyan. It comes at a time when more and more party members join the dissident faction led by the former Chief Minister O Panneerselvam denouncing the family politics of the new leaders of the powerful Dravidian party of South. Earlier, the Election Commission announced that it would conduct the by-election on April 12. The result would be announced just 48 hours after the election, it added. However, at this moment, it is not clear how though will be the by-election, but once the complete candidate list is out, we can make a wage assumption.
