Russia supports North Korea, asks the west to provide security guarantee before pushing for denuclearisation

North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un has participated in a historic meeting between Pyongyang and Moscow, with Russian president Vladimir Putin.

Both leaders have discussed several sensitive topics including the North Korean denuclearisation. Both leaders have termed the meeting as productive.

Immediately after the meeting, the Russian leader has suggested that the west should provide security guarantee to North Korea if it wants to see any progress in the denuclearisation of North Korea.

Mr Putin has said that it wants to see the total denuclearisation of the Korean peninsula.

Apart from China, Russia is the only powerful country that has expended its support to the reason quoted by North Korea to delay the progress of its denuclearisation.

The meeting between Russia and North Korea has come few months after the second level meeting between Pyongyang and Washington failed due to the White House’s disinterest to allow the complete removal of sanctions against the Korean iron curtain country before the completion of its complete denuclearisation.

During the second level meeting between the US and North Korea, the Korean dictator demanded the complete withdrawal of the economic sanction against his country. Unsurprisingly, the US leader disagreed to accept that aggressive demand. It stayed on its stated position that the complete withdrawal of the sanction will be considered after the completion of the complete denuclearisation of North Korea.
