Several regions in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry are facing heavy rainfall, putting the lives of the people living in the region in a great trouble.

The educational institutions functioning in the states have been directed to close down, until the situation gets back to normal again, or until they get further directions.

A source working in the Area Cyclone Warning Centre has informed the media houses that an upper air cyclonic circulation centred over the southwest Bay of Bengal is likely to bring more heavy rainfall in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry in coming hours.

The coastal regions such as Chennai, Tiruvallur, Cuddalore, Villipuram, Kancheepuram, Thanjavur, Nagapattinam, Ramanathapuram and Tiruvarur are expected to experience above normal rainfall today.

It is learned that the authorities have taken all the necessary precautions to prevent all potential dangers posed by the continuous rainfall.

In the recent past, the Indian city of Chennai witnessed a serious flood putting the lives of lakhs of people living in the city at high risk.

It is said that Tamil Nadu might witness above normal northeast normal monsoon this year. If the official predictions are worthy to be trusted, this year’s northeast monsoon will last until the first week of coming December.

More details regarding the impact of the rainfall are awaited.
