Raghav Chadha Hails Removal of ‘10-Minute Delivery’ Branding as Win for Gig Workers

Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha on Tuesday welcomed the Centre’s intervention to curb ultra-fast delivery promises by quick-commerce platforms, calling it a major victory for rider safety and dignity of labour. Reacting to the decision to remove “10-minute delivery” branding from platforms, Chadha described the move as a timely and compassionate step, adding, “Satyamev Jayate. Together, we have won.”

Chadha said aggressive branding and countdown-based delivery timelines put immense and unsafe pressure on delivery partners, often forcing them to take risks on the road. He noted that such practices endanger not only gig workers but also the wider public, and said the change would help improve overall road safety. The MP added that he had interacted with hundreds of delivery partners over the past few months to understand their working conditions.

The remarks followed Blinkit’s decision to drop “10-minute delivery” messaging across all platforms after discussions between Union Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and senior executives from Blinkit, Zepto, Swiggy and Zomato. The companies assured the government that fixed delivery-time commitments would be removed from branding and advertisements, responding to long-standing demands from gig workers’ unions that such timelines encourage unsafe speeds and increase accident risks.
