Prime Minister will unveil the statue of Sri Ramanujacharya today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will unveil the statue of the 1st century Vaishnava saint Ramanujacharya on Saturday. The statue is situated near Hyderabad. The statue of Sri Ramanujacharya is known as the Statue of Equality. President Ramnath Kovind, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu and many dignitaries from around the world have been invited to inaugurate the statue.

Chinna Jeeyar Swamy of Sri Ramanujacharya Ashram had visited Prime Minister Modi in September last year and asked him to visit the city. Following this, the Prime Minister’s visit to Hyderabad was announced last month. The inauguration will take place at 5 pm, the Prime Minister’s Office said.

The statue stands at a height of 216 feet on an area of ​​40 acres of the Shri Chinna Jeeyar Swamy Ashram. Suryanarayana Yellapragada, an official of the Gear Education Trust, said that the ‘Statue of Equality’ is the second tallest statue in the form of a seated figure. The statue was build to commemorate the 1,000th anniversary of his birth. The total cost of the project is around Rs.1000 crore.
