“PM, Please Ask Your Friend Abbas, If He Exists…”: A Owaisi’s Dig

According to Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi should consult his “childhood friend Abbas” if suspended BJP politician Nupur Sharma’s views on Prophet Muhammad are problematic or not.
Mr. Owaisi’s new attack on the Prime Minister comes just a week after Ms Sharma’s comments ignited a political maelstrom and a surge of protests across the country.

The Prime Minister remembered his recollections with Abbas in a blog post designed to commemorate his mother Heeraben Modi’s 99th birthday.

“My father’s close friend used to live in a neighbouring village. My father brought his friend’s son, Abbas, to our house after his unexpected death. He completed his education while staying with us. Mr Owaisi responded with a caustic rejoinder, saying, “After eight years, the Prime Minister remembered his friend. We had no idea you had a pal like this. We implore the Prime Minister to contact Mr Abbas, if he is present, and force him to listen to Asaduddin Owaisi and Ulemas (religious leaders) speak, and to ask him whether we are lying.”
