PM Modi to Meet Pope Francis in Italy
According to a Catholic Bishops’ association in Kerala, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will see Pope Francis on October 30 during his European journey, which begins later this week.
Cardinal George Alencherry, President of the Kerala Catholic Bishops Council (KCBC), said in a statement that “official sources have informed us that the meeting between His Holiness Pope Francis and Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi would take place on Saturday, October 30.” The Cardinal described it as a “historic summit” that will “bring greater vigor and warmth to our country’s relations with the Vatican and the Catholic Church.”
He also wished the Prime Minister “every success” in all of his engagements in Rome and throughout Italy. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has announced that Modi will go to Rome and Glasgow from October 29 to November 2 to attend the 16th G-20 Summit and the World Leaders’ Summit of COP-26, respectively.
