Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday chaired a high-powered roundtable with 12 leading Indian AI startups, describing them as “co-architects of India’s future” and pledging full government support. The meeting, held at his residence, precedes the India AI Impact Summit 2026, where these startups will showcase their innovations after qualifying for the “AI for ALL: Global Impact Challenge.”
The startups, representing sectors such as healthcare, generative AI, multilingual large language models, and engineering simulations, presented their cutting-edge work to the Prime Minister. Companies in attendance included Avataar, BharatGen, Fractal, Gan, Genloop, Gnani, Intellihealth, Sarvam, Shodh AI, Soket AI, Tech Mahindra, and Zenteiq. Founders highlighted India’s emergence as a global hub for AI innovation and praised government efforts to strengthen infrastructure and the AI ecosystem.
PM Modi emphasized that AI should drive large-scale transformation while being ethical, unbiased, and privacy-centric. He urged startups to focus on regional languages, indigenous content, and affordable, inclusive AI solutions that reflect India’s dual strengths in innovation and mass implementation. Union Minister for Electronics and IT Ashwini Vaishnaw and Minister of State Jitin Prasada were also present.
