Private Member Bill is an unavoidable element of a sound democracy. Several times, in the recent history, the PMBs have contributed productive discussions and effective policies in the democratic India.

Today, the parliament is going to discuss the PMBs. Actually, this day is exclusively dedicated for this purpose. At least sixteen Private Member Bills are likely to be tabled in the Upper House, and over one hundred and twenty PMBs are set to be placed in the Lower House.

The bills, which are going to be placed in the Rajya Sabha, deal with a wide range of things from the issue of the abolition of death penalty to the issue of the deportation of illegal migrants. Meanwhile, the bills, which are scheduled to be tabled in the Lok Sabha, are aimed at sorting out several issues including brain drain and fluoride contamination.

The Upper House has been experiencing complete pandemonium since Monday. The situation in the Lower House is no different. If the disturbances block the proceedings of this day, it will be a great loss for the country.

It is the high time to formulate a law to prevent the blockage of parliament proceedings caused due to the protest of its lawmakers.
