Ravi Shastri replaces Anil Kumble as team India’s head coach
Ravi Shastri has been appointed as India’s head coach after weeks of meeting and speculation. It was speculated the moment he applied for the post of head coach, as keeping in mind his relationship with the captain Kohli. Shastri has previously served as India’s head coach for a one away test series against Bangladesh in 2007. He was also team’s director for a span of 2 years starting from 2014 to 2016.
Along with Shastri, Zaheer Khan and Rahul Dravid too has been given responsibilities as bowling consultant and Overseas batting consultants respectively. The decision was headed by Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) chaired by Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman. The contract of the three legends serving in the Coaching department would last till the 2019 World Cup.
Previously, Anil Kumble had been the head coach. He stepped down from the position after Team India’s exit from the champions trophy in the finals.
