Panic Inside SpiceJet Aircraft Amid Severe Turbulence

Inside the SpiceJet flight from Mumbai that experienced severe air turbulence on its descent to the Durgapur airport in West Bengal on Sunday evening, terrifying images have emerged.
As the plane passed through the rough patch, moments of panic were captured on camera, with belongings scattered on the plane’s floor and oxygen masks down. The cabin baggage also landed on the passengers.

At least 17 people were injured, including 14 passengers and three cabin crew members. According to the aviation regulator, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), some of them sustained head injuries and required stitches. A spinal injury has been reported by one of the passengers.

According to a SpiceJet spokesperson, the passengers were given medical assistance as soon as they arrived in Durgapur.

“During the descent, there were three jerks. It was a lot more intense than driving in a car “described a passenger with a bandage on his head.

SpiceJet expressed regret for the incident.

“On May 1, a SpiceJet Boeing B737 aircraft flying SG-945 from Mumbai to Durgapur experienced severe turbulence during descent, resulting in injuries to a few passengers,” a SpiceJet spokesperson said. According to the DGCA, teams are being delegated to conduct regulatory investigations. HN Mishra, Director of Air Safety, will investigate the incident. The medical reports of those who were injured are still being awaited.
