On International Women’s Day, an all-female crew operated an express train

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, an express train was operated for the first time in the Chakradharpur (CKP) division of South Eastern Railway by all female staff, including the loco pilot, guard, TTE, and security personnel, an officer said.

The 13288 South Bihar Express, which runs between Danapur and Durg, was converted to a Women Special Train between CKP and Rourkela station on Tuesday to commemorate International Women’s Day, according to the officer. After the train was converted as a Women Special train between the two stations under SER, CKP division, Divisional Railway Manager Vijay Kumar Sahu, who received the train on its arrival at CKP, flagged off the train with Chairman of SER Women Welfare Organization, Anjula Sahu.

Our female employees, including the loco pilot, deputy pilot, guard, TTE, booking staff, station manager, and others, operated the train exclusively, he said.On Women’s Day, the goal was to instil confidence in them, according to Manish Pathak, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager of SER CKP division.

SER had previously commemorated the day in a similar manner, but this was the first time that women employees were given the responsibility of operating an express train. Between the stations, the female employees have covered approximately 165 kilometres on their own. Women officials from the Railway Protection Force (RPF) have also managed the station and the train, he added.
