Nvidia Expands South Korea Partnerships to Fuel AI Growth

Nvidia has announced a series of strategic partnerships with major South Korean companies, including SK Hynix, SK Telecom, Naver, Doosan Group, LG Group, and Hyundai Motor Group, as the U.S. chip giant seeks to strengthen its AI ecosystem and secure critical memory chip supplies. The agreements were unveiled during Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang’s visit to South Korea, where he met leading corporate executives to discuss future collaborations in artificial intelligence, data centers, robotics, and advanced computing technologies.

A key highlight of the visit was a multi-year technology partnership between Nvidia and SK Hynix, one of the world’s largest memory chip manufacturers. The collaboration will focus on developing next-generation memory solutions for global AI data centers. Huang emphasized that demand for AI infrastructure continues to surge and suggested that even SK Hynix’s plan to double memory wafer capacity by 2030 may not be sufficient. He noted that Nvidia already purchases billions of dollars’ worth of memory chips annually from SK Hynix and expects that figure to grow substantially in the coming years.

Beyond memory chips, Nvidia also expanded its AI ambitions across multiple industries. SK Telecom plans to build a gigawatt-scale AI cloud in South Korea, with its first AI data center expected to launch in 2027 using Nvidia technology. The company is also partnering with LG Group on AI-powered electronics and humanoid robotics, while deepening cooperation with Hyundai Motor Group in autonomous mobility, robotics, and AI-driven manufacturing. Huang described Hyundai’s planned AI data center project in Saemangeum as an emerging “AI Valley,” underscoring South Korea’s growing role as a global hub for AI innovation and advanced semiconductor technology.
