Noida Airport Receives License, Set for Commercial Operations
Noida International Airport at Jewar has officially received its Aerodrome License, a key milestone toward starting commercial flights. Located in Gautam Buddha Nagar, the airport aims to connect the National Capital Region and western Uttar Pradesh with major domestic and international destinations. Final approvals, including the Aerodrome Security Program, are under review, after which the airport will announce its inauguration and commence operations.
The airport is being developed in four phases, with the first phase featuring a passenger terminal handling 1.2 crore passengers annually, one runway, 10 aerobridges, and 28 aircraft parking stands. Modern facilities, including domestic and international lounges, DigiYatra-based biometric processing, self-baggage drop, and digital passenger systems, will enhance traveler convenience and efficiency.
Noida Airport is also preparing a cargo and logistics hub, initially handling 2.5 lakh tons per year with plans to expand to 1.5 million tons. Built with sustainability in mind, the project incorporates solar energy, rainwater harvesting, and EV charging stations. Once operational, it is expected to ease air traffic in Delhi-NCR and boost tourism, investment, and employment in western Uttar Pradesh.
