Netflix signs deal with Farhan Akhtar; First series is ‘Dabba Cartel’

Netflix signs agreement with Excel Entertainment, a production company owned by Farhan Akhtar and Riteish Sidhwani. Accordingly, Excel Media and Entertainment will prepare a number of projects for Netflix. The names of the two series to be released in this combination have also been released. ‘Dabba Cartel’ and ‘Queen of the Hill’ are the first series to come out.

‘Dabba Cartel’ is the story of five housewives who run a secret cartel. ‘Queen of the Hill’ is a series set in 1960s Bombay. The theme of the series is that the relationship between two women living with high expectations will change the city itself.

Monica Shergill, Content Vice President, Netflix India, said: “We are very excited about our collaboration with Excel Entertainment. “Excel Entertainment is a production company that constantly tries to push the boundaries of entertainment. They have already told many surviving stories of the times. We are delighted to welcome them to Netflix, “said Monica Shergill.

Excel Entertainment is the banner behind the production of ‘Dil Chahta Hai’, which was released in 2001 under the direction of Farhan Akhtar himself. Many films like Don, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Thalash, Raees, Gully Boy and Toofan were released under this banner.
