Mumbai police arrest Four people over alleged leaking of Game of Thrones episode
Four individuals of which 3 were identified to be current employee of Prime focus technology and the other one a former employee, were arrested by Mumbai police on Monday for leaking the unaired episodes of popular TV show Game of Thrones. Globally adored TV show has seen a rise in popularity over past couple of years. It has also been names as the most pirated show in TV history. The growing popularity of the show has come as a down pour for the producers as the alleged pirated versions are available in net much it is aired officially.
Recently a group of hackers stole around 1.5 TB of data that included the episodes of Ballers, Room 104 and scripts from Game of Throne.
In India, Prime focus technology, a Mumbai based company that processes and stores the series for Indian streaming website Hotstar, registered a complaint with the Mumbai police over the alleged leaking of the episodes even before it was aired officially. The four booked, who belong to the same firm that raised the complaint, allegedly aired the 4th episode of season 7 much before it was aired officially online.
Four have been booked under Criminal breach of trust & computer related offences and is said to be in custody till 21st August.
