Microsoft Launches Largest Data Center Hub in Hyderabad to Accelerate India AI Expansion
Microsoft has inaugurated its largest data center hub in India in Hyderabad, marking a significant step in strengthening its cloud and artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure in the country. The new India South Central region becomes Microsoft’s fourth cloud region in India, joining existing facilities in Pune, Chennai, and Mumbai. The company has already secured major customers, including Adani Group and HDFC Bank, as demand for AI-powered cloud services continues to grow.
The technology giant has committed around $20.5 billion to expand its operations in India, reflecting its confidence in one of the world’s fastest-growing digital markets. Microsoft said its Azure cloud platform has delivered double-digit revenue growth in India over the past two years. The company also operates two additional data centers in partnership with Reliance Jio, further strengthening its nationwide cloud infrastructure.
Microsoft said the new Hyderabad facility will provide trusted infrastructure that enables businesses to deploy AI applications closer to where data is generated and processed. Meanwhile, competitors such as Google and Amazon are also investing heavily in India’s data center market to support the country’s rapidly expanding AI ecosystem. However, some proposed projects have faced environmental scrutiny over concerns related to water resources and wildlife.
