MGNREGS undergoing financial struggle
The scheme, which gives livelihood to lakhs and lakhs of poor Indian citizens who are not capable to secure the money required to meet their basic needs with their own effort due to many reasons including the lack of job opportunities and the lack of skills to grab a proper job and thus financial autonomy, is undergoing a serious financial struggle as the central government, which runs the most depended social security scheme, has not yet distributed the pending amount of over three thousand crore Indian rupees to the respective states, which are struggling to meet their labour cost, materials cost and administrative expenditure related to the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.
As per the report, of this huge amount of over three thousand crores Indian rupees, around nine hundred crore Indian rupees are due towards wages for those poor people who depend on this scheme. It is learned that around ten states suffer the aftereffects of the crisis.
Anyway, it is said that technical issues are behind the delay in the dispersion of required fund.
The central government must make sure that these social security schemes do not suffer any financial crisis.
MGNREGS is the backbone of the rural economy. Even a slight depreciation in the fund allotted to this scheme may cause a huge adverse impact on the Indian rural economy.
