Kerala Collector’s post asking children not to jump into water bodies or go fishing wins hearts online

Kerala has been receiving a lot of rain this week, therefore collectors all around the state have announced breaks for educational institutions within their domains. Online hearts are currently being won by a post made by Alappuzha District Collector V R Krishna Teja.

Teja, who recently assumed leadership after IAS officer Sriram Venkitaraman was transferred, proclaimed a vacation for all educational institutions in his district, including professional colleges and anganwadis. Teja, who is well-known for his assistance during the state’s 2018 floods, recently wrote a touching post for kids on Facebook that has wowed online users.

Roughly translated, the post in Malayalam reads, “Dear children, I hope you are aware that I have taken charge as Alappuzha district collector. My first order itself is for you, to ensure your safety. I have declared a holiday for you tomorrow. However, please do not plunge into water bodies or go fishing. There is heavy rain in our district. Everyone should sit inside their homes. Parents would have gone for work. Do not venture out thinking they are not there. It is the time when contagious diseases spread. Be extremely cautious. Eat food at the right time. Do not remain idle thinking it is a holiday. Go through your lessons. Study well and become smart. With love.”

Users of Facebook hailed the post with praise. One user wrote, “Nice Entry… welcome.” In Malayalam, another user added, “The man who knows people’s minds.”

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday issued a red alert for eight districts as heavy rain continued to disrupt daily life in Kerala as a result of waterlogging and landslides, according to PTI.
