Commonwealth Games 2022 Updates: Wrestlers Bajrang Punia And Three Others Assured Of At Least Silver
In the final of their respective weight divisions are Indian wrestlers Bajrang Punia (men’s 65kg), Sakshi Malik (women’s 62kg), Anshu Malik (women’s 57kg), and Deepak Punia (men’s 86kg). Women’s 68kg wrestler Divya Kakran will compete for bronze.
Kidambi Srikanth and PV Sindhu, two of India’s top badminton players, have both advanced to the quarterfinals of their respective singles competitions. In the women’s singles para table tennis classes 3-5, Bhavinaben Patel advanced to the championship match.
Manika Batra and Sathiyan Gnanasekaran advanced to the table tennis mixed doubles tournament quarterfinals. In a sweep of games, the Indian team defeated Ojomu Ajoke and Omotayo Olajide of Nigeria. Achanta Sharath Kamal, another prominent TT player, has advanced to the round of 16 in men’s singles.
Star sprinter Hima Das will compete in the Women’s 200m semifinal later on in the day. PV Sindhu will compete in the women’s singles Round of 16 match in badminton. In the men’s doubles, Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy will also compete. Murali Sreeshankar won a silver medal in the long jump on Thursday, while Sudhir won a record gold medal in the men’s heavyweight para powerlifting.
