John Shaw, husband of Biocon chief Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, passes away
John Shaw, the husband of Biocon executive chair Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, passed unexpectedly on Monday morning at a private hospital, according to family sources. He was 73.
They claimed Shaw was being treated at the hospital when he was hospitalised. Its precise cause is unknown. Shaw formerly served as vice chairman of Biocon Limited, which has its headquarters in Bengaluru.
He graduated from the University of Glasgow in the UK with an MA (Economics Honours) in History and Political Economy. He was once the managing director and finance director of Coats Viyella Group as well as the chairman of Madura Coats Limited.
John had been receiving cancer therapy for a while, but up until a few weeks ago, he was doing well. In June of this year, Kiran Shaw lost her mother Yamini Mazumdar, who was also an entrepreneur, to cancer.
It was in 1998, that Kiran Mazumdar got tied the knot with John Shaw.
